Author Visit

Today we enjoyed listening to the author of a book called 'Mavis the Amazing Tugboat'.  Her name is Dianne Lonergan.

Dianne read us the story of a brave river man called Captain Doug Hislop and his tugboat Mavis, who saved the Gateway Bridge during the Brisbane 2011 floods. Have you read this book?

Cross Country Carnival

On Tuesday we participated in our school cross country carnival. We ran half a kilometre around Memorial Park. We all ran well and at the end of the carnival the points were added up. Collins house which is Gold were the winners! We were proud of all the year two runners. We have posted some photos of 2J before we got on the bus to take us to the park.

Picasso Portraits

2J have been looking at the work by a famous Spanish artist named Pablo Picasso. We noticed how asymmetrical the faces in Picasso's paintings are. We made our own Picasso type portraits using only geometric shapes. On each shape we drew large features e.g. eye, nose and mouth. We glued these on to our art paper and then we coloured in the background. We have displayed our work for everyone to enjoy. Our teacher thinks they are masterpieces!
