Fractions

This week in 2J we learnt about fractions.
We found out that 2 is one quarter of 8 and 4 is one quarter of 16. We now know that 2 halves make 1 whole and 4 quarters make 1 whole.

We had fun making caterpillar fractions. What do you know about fractions?

War Monuments Excursion

2J went on an excursion to visit 2 war monuments in our local area. The first was the cenotaph at Richard Russell Park. It had the names of soldiers who died in World War 1 and World War 2.
There were floral wreaths laid at the bottom of the cenotaph.
Mackenzie's family laid a wreath here on Anzac Day in memory of her great grandfather.
The second monument was outside the RSL hall in Manly. It is in memory of everyone who fought in the war. It is a very big rock with the words "Lest We Forget" on it.

Afterwards we went inside to look at some memorabilia from different wars. It was very interesting.
Where is your favourite war monument?

Fish and Chip Excursion

On Friday 22nd March all the Year 2's walked to the waterfront to enjoy a fish and chips lunch.
While we were there Ms Edwards spoke about people in East Timor and other parts of the world who need our help. We were happy to donate some money to Project Compassion so that we could help others. Before we went back to school we had lots of fun climbing and playing together.

Today 2J went to the Bravehearts Ditto Show. Ditto the lion taught us some skills we need to stay safe. He told us It's ok to say NO! and run and tell someone you trust. At the end of the show we had our photo taken with Ditto.
